Price verified July 2026 · a local mart, South Korea
The soft one. Chum-Churum’s entire case is that it goes down without a fight, and cold, in a small glass, it makes that case well. Somebody at the table will defend it against Chamisul all night and change nobody’s mind.
Chum-Churum soju, 360ml bottle costs ₩1,450 at a local mart, South Korea, as of July 2026. ()
What you get
Yellow tag on the shelf edge: 처음처럼360ml, 1,450원. The bottles above it are wearing paper collars that read ANNIVERSARY 20th, and the label says Alc. 16.0%, 360 ml, 320 kcal.
The whole pitch is softness, and the label spells it out in small type along the bottom: 대관령 기슭 암반수로 만든 부드러운 소주. A soft soju, made with bedrock water from the foot of Daegwallyeong. There’s a blue water drop beside the brushed name in case the point hasn’t landed. Now read the blue strip running along the shelf under the bottles: 16.5도로 변함없는 부드러움. The same softness at 16.5, says the shelf, under bottles that say 16.0. The sticker is half a step behind the glass.
Chamisul is ₩1,450 too. Identical, to the won. So the fight between the two green bottles was never about money, which has never slowed it down for a second. Chum-Churum people say it’s rounder and easier to keep drinking. The other side says that’s a generous word for thin. Both camps order a fourth bottle while proving it.
Where the loyalty really shows is in the mixing. Drop a shot of soju into a glass of beer and the result gets a name of its own: 카스처럼 is Cass with Chum-Churum, 테슬라 is Terra with Chamisul. Pick a bottle and you have somehow also picked a beer, a nickname, and a side in an argument you never asked to join.

| Item | Chum-Churum soju, 360ml bottle (Lotte Chilsung) |
| Price | ₩1,450 — |
| Where | a local mart, South Korea |
| Date | July 2026 |
| Best for | Somaek with a can of Cass, a dinner that’s going to run long, and anyone whose first soju tasted too sharp. |
| Would I buy again? | Yes. Of the two green bottles, this is the one I reach for when the table is settling in for the long version. |
Tip: The boxed characters on the label read 가정용, household use: this is the mart bottle. What a restaurant pours is a different bottle at a price of its own choosing, so don’t carry ₩1,450 to dinner as an expectation. The small bottle icon stamped 100원 on soju labels is a deposit, and shops that sell them are supposed to take the empties back.
FAQ
How much does Chum-Churum soju cost in Korea?
₩1,450 for the 360ml bottle at a local mart, July 2026, the same as Chamisul at that kind of shop. Convenience stores and restaurants price it their own way, so treat this as the mart shelf number rather than a fixed one.
What’s the difference between Chum-Churum and Chamisul?
Same 360ml bottle, same ₩1,450 in my July notes, and two opposite pitches. Chum-Churum builds everything on softness — 부드러운 소주, soft soju, sits in small type on the label — while Chamisul sells clean and dry. Which bottle ends up in somebody’s fridge usually has more to do with who they drink with than with what’s in the glass.
How strong is Chum-Churum?
The bottle I photographed reads Alc. 16.0%, with 360 ml and 320 kcal on the side. The shelf strip underneath was still advertising 16.5, so both numbers are out there in the same aisle. Go by the bottle in your hand.
