Couldn’t just walk past this place on my way home, so I caved and got all three. That’s the thing about a proper bunsik shop — tteokbokki, sundae, and fish cake are a package deal in your head even when you only meant to buy one. Total came to ₩9,500 on card, receipt and all. The tteokbokki here is the wheat-flour rice cake style (milddeok) — chewier, soaks up more sauce than the pure-rice kind, and there’s a whole faction of Koreans, me included, who will die on this hill (the rice-cake camp will absolutely fight you on it). Big flat slices of fish cake mixed right in. The sundae comes packed tight into a cup, sliced up and glistening. And the fish cake — they fold the sheets into a cup, pour the broth in, and seal it with plastic wrap so you carry the soup home too. That broth is half the point: the salty, savory reset button between spicy bites. The correct eating order, if you ask me — a slice of sundae dipped in the tteokbokki sauce, then a sip of fish cake broth, repeat until everything’s gone and you’re vaguely sad about it. One star off only because I wish the tteokbokki portion were a touch bigger. Everything else, no notes.
